Hiltl specializes in the development and production of high-quality men’s trousers. These are primarily sold via clothing chain stores and specialist men's outfitters as well as select online retailers. Hiltl primarily differs from its direct competitors through its use of high-quality Italian and German fabrics and outstanding quality of workmanship. Excellent product quality combined with an increasingly fashionable orientation of the product range enables Hiltl to increasingly sell its trousers in an international market.

Key aspects of the commercial due diligence included a detailed analysis of the specific niche market for high-quality men's trousers in the upper-mid price segment, an evaluation of medium and long-term trends (e.g. men’s growing affinity for fashion and the increasing willingness to spend on men's trousers across all age classes) as well as an assessment of Hiltl's position in the competitive environment.
