To set the strategic partnership on a course for success from the start, Viessmann brought the Cologne-based consulting boutique maconda on board for a Commercial Due Diligence on Pewo. The maconda consultants developed a model for the non-transparent market for building interface, distribution, and apartment stations in Germany, identified relevant drivers, and derived the future development of the market. To better understand sales channels as well as the decision-making processes and criteria of the market players involved, the consulting team conducted over 200 interviews, including with heating contractors and wholesalers, energy suppliers, and housing companies.

To evaluate new market potential, maconda set up a comprehensive market model and also analyzed in detail which foreign markets show promise. Furthermore, the maconda consultants developed starting points for a systematic expansion of sales activities and identified additional growth paths that could be promising for further expanding Pewo’s already strong market position – for example, by supplementing the business model with digital, data-based elements. Complex data acquisition and analysis procedures are a core competency of maconda, in which some of our consultants have been active for over 30 years – well before the start of the media’s Big Data wave.

Energy transition as a success factor: Pewo is an owner-managed company from Saxony that develops and produces systems for energy-efficient heat distribution – for individual apartments and houses through to entire residential quarters. Hotels, clinics, and industrial companies throughout Europe are also among its customers. Pewo’s product portfolio includes interface stations for local and district heating, heat pumps, apartment and fresh water stations, as well as control and instrumentation systems. Innovative: Pewo products contain I technology including self-developed software. This enables the efficient operation of all systems integrated into a local heating network.
