Packaging

We analyze companies in the packaging industry with regard to market positioning, consolidation, internationalization, and increasing requirements for functionality and sustainability.

Packaging

The German packaging industry is characterized by mid-sized companies: there are few large, internationally operating companies, but primarily many mid-sized businesses in sometimes remarkably attractive niches. Nevertheless, there is an ongoing consolidation trend, driven primarily by high fragmentation. Furthermore, growth is often only possible internationally, where many mid-sized companies reach their financial and conceptual limits. At the same time, requirements from policymakers and consumers are increasing, for example regarding recyclability, environmentally friendly and sustainable alternatives, functionality with respect to reclosability, flexible fill sizes, and much more.
