The team of Cologne-based consulting boutique maconda has advised Belgian Sylphar International on its investment in Del Decus, a young natural face and body care company. Sylphar, in which the Scandinavian financial investor EQT has held a stake since 2022, has developed into a leading omnichannel provider in the health and beauty business with its portfolio of strategic niche brands. In a focused commercial due diligence, the advisors at maconda, who have many years of experience in the beauty industry and with e-commerce, evaluated the branding, sales channels, e-commerce performance and growth drivers of Satin Naturel, Del Decus’ main brand.

The Cologne-based consulting boutique maconda prepared a commercial review for the Benner family office for the acquisition of a majority stake in Thonet, the traditional German manufacturer of high-quality design classics. The consultants, who are experienced in the furniture and consumer goods industry and with premium products, evaluated the positioning of Thonet in the residential and so-called object segment for the entrepreneurial family from Wiesbaden.

Europe's leading technology trade fair for the commerce sector
Commerce is about change - digitalization and technologization, informed and demanding consumers, new business models pose new challenges for the world of commerce. In the multi-layered and dynamic retail industry, which maconda focuses on, future-oriented, interlocked trade concepts are required, which are increasingly characterized by technological development.
In February, maconda visited the leading trade fair for commerce technology in Europe, EuroCIS. The focus of this year's EuroCIS was on solutions that support retailers in implementing their omnichannel strategies, i.e. dialogue with customers across all channels. These include mobile solutions, for example for interacting with customers' smartphones or implementing mobile payment, but also topics such as business analytics, cloud technologies, RFID and self-checkout. These technologies are becoming increasingly important for trade organizations.

Extensive experience in the retail clothing trade, in the textile industry as well as a long-standing reputation in the preparation of commercial due diligences were the necessary ingredients for a renewed mandate of the long-established corporate investor NORD Holding to the maconda team. The focus was on the acquisition of Fritz Hiltl Hosenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG from Sulzbach-Rosenberg near Nuremberg.

The Hamburg-based investor BPE Unternehmensbeteiligungen has again mandated maconda for a commercial due diligence - this time in the run-up to the acquisition of epis Automation GmbH & Co. KG from the Swabian town of Albstadt. Here, BPE was able to draw not only from the many years of experience of the Mechanical Engineering & Technology Competence Team and the experience in relevant end markets such as the textile industry, but also from the deeper understanding of future technologies such as "Internet of Things" and "Industry 4.0".

maconda's retail expertise was once again in demand for the analysis of the German department store sector. The Cologne-based consultants have already dealt with the colorful world of department stores on several occasions - in the context of strategy projects as well as in commercial due diligences. This time, special attention was paid to assessing the future prospects of this retail format in Germany in the run-up to a possible transaction.
